Catalytic Transfer Hydrogenation of Glucose to Sorbitol with Raney Ni Catalysts Using Biomass-Derived Diols as Hydrogen Donors

نویسندگان

چکیده

The catalytic transfer hydrogenation (CTH) of glucose to sorbitol has been studied using a wide collection different biomass-derived alcohols and diols as hydrogen donors. Catalytic activity results reflect the feasibility conduct this transformation in presence conventional, commercially available Raney Ni-type sponges catalysts. Sacrificial displayed superior performance donors compared short-chain alcohols, including secondary alcohols. Among them, terminal such 1,4-butanediol 1,5-pentanediol were revealed excellent donors, providing high selectivity conversion into sorbitol. As for catalysts, molybdenum promotion provided very sponge nickel even under mild temperature conditions. was also fixed-bed reactor continuous-flow operation Results demonstrate that catalysts are highly stable able operate at least 550 h on stream with CTH

Hydrogen Production from Biomass Gasification with Ni-Fe/Al Catalysts

Producing clean hydrogen from renewable resources will reduce our dependence on using fossil fuels towards a green and sustainable future. Biomass gasification is regarded as a promising technology for hydrogen production. In this work, low cost Ni-based catalyst was applied in a two-stage fixed bed reaction system. Fe was added into Ni-Al catalyst(80mol.% Al) by co-precipitation method with va...

Catalytic Hydrogenation and Oxidation of Biomass- Derived Levulinic Acid

Levulinic acid (LA), 4-oxo-pentanoic acid, is a new platform chemical with various potential uses. In this paper, catalytic hydrogenation and oxidation of levulinic acid were studied. It was shown from experiments that levulinic acid can be hydrogenated to γ-valerolactone (GVL) over transition metal catalysts and oxidative-decarboxylated to 2-butanone (methyl-ethyl-ketone, MEK) and methyl-vinyl...

Efficient hydrogenation of biomass-derived cyclic di-esters to 1,2-diols.

The unprecedented homogeneous hydrogenation of cyclic di-esters, in particular biomass-derived glycolide and lactide, to the corresponding 1,2-diols is catalyzed by Ru(II) PNN (1) and Ru(II) CNN (2) pincer complexes under mild hydrogen pressure and (in the case of 1) neutral conditions. No racemization was observed when a chiral di-ester was used.

MOF-derived Ni-based nanocomposites as robust catalysts for chemoselective hydrogenation of functionalized nitro compounds

Porous graphitic carbon layers encapsulating Ni nanoparticles (Ni@C) were prepared by a facile thermolysis of a Ni-containing metal–organic framework, the structure of which were characterized by power X-ray diffraction (XRD), N2 adsorption–desorption, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) in detail. The resulting Ni@C nanocomposites served as highly...

Conversion of biomass-derived sorbitol to glycols over carbon-materials supported Ru-based catalysts.

Ruthenium (Ru) supported on activated carbon (AC) and carbon nanotubes (CNTs) was carried out in the hydrogenolysis of sorbitol to ethylene glycol (EG) and 1,2-propanediol (1,2-PD) under the promotion of tungsten (WOx) species and different bases. Their catalytic activities and glycols selectivities strongly depended on the support properties and location of Ru on CNTs, owning to the altered me...
